A water collecting receptacle, enabling circulated water outdoor garden displays, of the type that doe s not also use the water as a habitat for aquatic life and may be in the form of a fountain or waterfall, to have the water stored, protected from encroachment by the usually unwanted forms of visible aquatic life and frost. Further, enabling any included ornamental structure to he detachable from the display. Furthermore, enabling overflow to be used. The water collecting receptacle comprises a container having an opening for access, that is closed by a lid. The container stores a quantity of water below an outlet opening. The container is preferably placed upright and may be disposed underground, at a level that would keep the stored water frost free. The water is pumped from the container, preferably by a submersible pump and displayed as chosen, at a selected location. A catchment suitably disposed outside the container, receives the water after display and drains it through an opening into an inflow tube, that drains into the container using an inlet opening in the container. The catchment may be made of a cloth like material. Alternatively, the catchment may be made of a resilient plastic material or other suitable material that is preformed to a fixed shape. The container may also have an outflow tube that may have many small openings along it and by fitting the outlet opening, conveys water away from the container.
