A process and apparatus for forming a coherent refractory mass on the surface of a road wherein one or more non-combustible materials are mixed with one or more metallic combustible powders and an oxidizer, igniting the mixture so that the combustible metallic particles react in an exothermic manner with the oxidizer and release sufficient heat to form a coherent mass under the action of the heat of combustion and projecting this mass against the surface of the road so that the mass adheres durably to the surface of the road. The combustion chamber can be operative with a reverse vortex to cool the walls of the chamber.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de formation d'une masse réfractaire cohérente sur la surface d'une route. Ledit procédé consiste: à mélanger un ou plusieurs matériaux non combustibles à une ou plusieurs poudres combustibles métalliques et à un oxydant, à allumer le mélange de sorte que les particules métalliques combustibles réagissent de manière exothermique avec l'oxydant et libèrent suffisamment de chaleur afin de former une masse cohérente sous l'action de la chaleur de combustion, ainsi qu'à projeter ladite masse contre la surface de la route de sorte que la masse adhère durablement à la surface de la route. La chambre de combustion peut fonctionner avec un vortex inverse afin de refroidir les parois de la chambre.
