The invention relates to an apparatus for feeding untied bunches (1), consisting of a number of roundwood logs or the like, while maintaining a substantially bunched-up condition, in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the bunch, intermittently into a strander (2) or the like. The apparatus includes at least one intermittent feeder (3, 4), mounted on the supply line of the apparatus and adapted to grab a bunch (1) present on the supply line for carrying the same through a fixed distance (a) in the feeding direction of said supply line, and said intermittent feeder (3, 4) being provided with at least one gripper element (5), applying the actual feeding movement to the bunch (1) and compressing the bunch for the duration of its passage crosswise relative to the lengthwise direction of the bunch, for eliminating relative movement between roundwood logs or the like present in the bunch (1) during the course of a passage.
