A surgical fastener apparatus having a handle, an elongated shaft having a proximal end attached to the handle and a distal end extending therefrom. An end effector including a pair of jaws pivoted at a proximal end thereof and movable between an open and closed position. A cartridge containing a plurality of surgical fasteners, the cartridge attached to the end effector. An electrically powered actuator for deploying the surgical fasteners, the actuator having a power source and a motor. A first trigger attached to the handle for moving the end effector from the open to the closed position, and a second trigger attached to the handle for activating the actuator. A first lockout mechanism for preventing current from flowing from the power source to the motor unless the end effector is in its closed position a second lockout mechanism having a locked and unlocked position, the second lockout mechanism for preventing movement of the second trigger until the second lockout mechanism is moved to the unlocked position.
L'invention concerne un appareil de fixation chirurgical muni d'une poignée, d'un manche allongé ayant une extrémité proximale attachée à la poignée et d'une extrémité distale qui s'étend depuis celle-ci. Il comprend un effecteur terminal comprenant une paire de mâchoires qui pivote au niveau de son extrémité proximale et qui est mobile entre une position ouverte et une position fermée. Une cartouche contenant une pluralité de dispositifs de fixation chirurgicaux est attachée à l'effecteur terminal. Un actionneur électrique permet de déployer les dispositifs de fixation chirurgicaux, l'actionneur étant muni d'une source d'énergie et d'un moteur. Un premier déclencheur est fixé à la poignée pour faire passer l'effecteur terminal de la position ouverte à la position fermée, et un deuxième déclencheur est fixé à la poignée pour activer l'actionneur. Un premier mécanisme de blocage empêche le courant de passer de la source d'énergie au moteur lorsque l'effecteur terminal est en position fermée, un deuxième mécanisme de blocage comporte une position bloquée et une position débloquée, le deuxième mécanisme de blocage permettant d'empêcher le mouvement du deuxième déclencheur avant que le deuxième mécanisme de blocage ne soit déplacé en position débloquée.
