A fluidic waveguide comprising a container and a fluid that fills said container, wherein said fluid has a refractive index greater than the refractive index of the wall of the said container and wherein said fluid can act as a waveguide for electromagnetic radiation when contacted therewith is disclosed. A corresponding fluidic lightguide along with devices that function as composite waveguides and lightguides are described. Assays utilizing this waveguide for biochemical, chemical, and other kinds of analyses are also disclosed.

La présente invention concerne un guide d'ondes fluidique comprenant un récipient et, pour remplir le récipient, un fluide d'un indice de réfraction supérieur à celui des parois du récipient et capable de se comporter en guide d'ondes pour rayonnement électromagnétique lorsqu'un contact est établi avec lui. L'invention concerne enfin des titrages utilisant ce guide d'ondes pour des analyses entre autres biochimiques et chimiques.
