A method and system for controlling access to a medium in a wireless communication system. A superframe structure is defined in time domain to include a contention free period (CFP) which has at least one scheduled resource allocation (SRA) (3712), at least one management SRA (MSRA) (3718) and a contention period. An extended beacon (EB) (3746) including information about the SRA and MSRA is transmitted for. The architecture reduces station battery consumption, supports higher throughput for non-real time (NRT) traffic and is more efficient for real time (RT) traffic while maintaining full compatibility.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un système permettant de commander l'accès à un support dans un système de communications sans fil. Une structure de supertrame est définie dans un domaine temporel afin d'inclure une période de contention libre (CFP) comprenant au moins une affectation de ressources programmée (SRA), au moins une SRA de gestion (MSRA) et une période de contention. Une balise étendue (EB) contenant des informations relatives à la SRA et la MSRA est transmise. Une architecture MAC permet de réduire la consommation de batterie de station, supporte un débit de trafic en temps non réel (NRT) plus élevé et est plus efficace pour un trafic en temps réel (RT) tout en maintenant une compatibilité totale.
