A method for the analysis of the properties of a test specimen (A) of reducible material that contains iron of the type raw pellet or pellet for the optimisation of the pelletization process and the subsequent extraction of iron by the use of an arrangement that demonstrates a first device and a second device that can be displaced relative to each other, each of which demonstrates contact surfaces (8, 13) facing the other. The method comprises the steps: a) a test specimen (A) is arranged between the contact surfaces (8, 13); b) the distance between the contact surfaces (8, 13) is continuously reduced; c) the diameter of the test specimen (A) is measured when the test specimen makes contact with the contact surfaces (8, 13); d) the contact surfaces (8, 13) are further displaced in a direction towards each other during the compression of the test specimen (A) until the test specimen disintegrates; e) the force that is applied to the test specimen (A) and the time are continuously recorded and stored; f) the maximum forces at all the points of disintegration of the test specimen (A) are recorded; g) the distance between the contact surfaces (8, 13) in increased; and h) the test specimen is removed.
