A first device has a display that is able to show a confidential value. The confidential value is to be exchanged with a second device. The confidential value is cleared from the display if certain criteria have been satisfied. The criteria include that the first device has received an indication from the second device that input expected to be identical to the confidential value has been inputted at the second device. The input is not included in the indication.
