Embodiments of the present invention provide a hybrid fiber-coax network having a head end and at least on e fiber node in two-way communication thereiwth. A cable modem is located within the fiber node that provides a communication channel. The communication channel is adapted to transmit at least one informational signal that is indicative of a condition of the fiber node to the head end and is adapted to receive at least one control signal from the head end.

L'invention concerne un réseau coaxial en fibre hybride comprenant une tête de réseau et au moins un noeud de fibres en communication mutuelle bidirectionnelle. Un câblomodem situé dans le noeud permet d'établir un canal de communication capable de transmettre au moins un signal d'information pour indiquer l'état du noeud à la tête de réseau, et capable de recevoir au moins un signal de contrôle depuis la tête de réseau.
