The present invention pertains to the use of lactic acid bacteria capable to adhere to the intestine's mucosa and essentially colonize it for the treatment of disorders associated with peritonitis. In particular, the present invention relates to the use of such lactic acid bacteria for the treatment of peritonitis caused by liver cirrhosis.
