A process for detecting a misfire in one or more cylinders (3, 3') of an internal combustion engine, including the following operative steps: sampling the exhaust gas pressure values during at least one engine cycle, the sampling frequency being proportional to the crankshaft rotational speed; analyzing the sampled signal in the frequency domain; calculating a misfire index as a function of the results of said analysis; comparing said index with one or more threshold values. Said frequency domain analysis preferably includes a Fourier transform of the sampled signal. The present invention also relates to a system carrying out said process.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de détection d'un raté d'allumage dans un ou plusieurs cylindres (3, 3') d'un moteur à combustion interne, consistant à: (a) échantillonner les valeurs de la pression des gaz d'échappement dans au moins un cycle de moteur, la fréquence d'échantillonnage étant proportionnelle à la vitesse de rotation du vilebrequin, (b) analyser le signal échantillonné dans le domaine fréquentiel, (c) calculer un indice de raté d'allumage en fonction des résultats de cette analyse, et enfin, (d) comparer cet indice avec une ou plusieurs valeurs de seuil. L'analyse dans le domaine fréquentiel comprend de préférence une transformée de Fourier du signal échantillonné. En outre, cette invention concerne un système de réalisation de ce procédé.
