There is provided a method of managing a data memory in order to improve the processing of memory allocation requests. Memory segments are associated with different levels according to their size. A different granule size to the power of two is defined for each level. The granule size defines the range of segment sizes associated with each level. A multiple-stage bitmap is provided which indicates which of the levels contains free segments and the size of free segments. The bitmap is updated each time a memory segment is freed or allocated. Thereby, a deterministic "Best Fit" approach is provided which permits the allocation and release of memory segments at both task and interrupt level and which reduces memory fragmentation.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de gérer une mémoire de données afin d'améliorer le traitement de demandes d'attribution de mémoire. Des segments de mémoire sont associés avec différents niveaux en fonction de leur taille. Une taille de granule différente pour la puissance de deux est définie pour chaque niveau. La taille de granule définit la plage de tailles de segment associée à chaque niveau. Une table de bits à étages multiples indique quel niveau contient des segments libres et indique également la taille de ces segments libres. La table de bits est mise à jour chaque fois qu'un segment de mémoire est libéré ou attribué. Ainsi, une approche "d'ajustement optimal" déterministique est obtenue, laquelle permet l'attribution et la libération de segments de mémoire à la fois à un niveau de tâche et à un niveau d'interruption et qui permet de réduire la fragmentation de mémoire.
