A novel polypeptide having a cold-resistant pyruvate phosphate dikinase activity; a cloned DNA coding for the polypeptide; and a recombinant vector containing the DNA, each as a means for imparting cold resistance to plants. The polypeptide is either the following polypeptide (1) or polypeptide (2) and has such an amino acid sequence that at least one amino acid residue present in the region having a length of one-sixth of the whole length starting with the C-terminus has been replaced by another amino acid residue and also has a cold-resistant pyruvate phosphate dikinase activity: 1) a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence represented by any of the SEQ ID no:1 to no:4 in the sequence listing and also having a pyruvate phosphate dikinase activity; and 2) a polypeptide having such an amino acid sequence that at least 50 % thereof is homologous with the amino acid sequence mentioned in item 1) and also having a pyruvate phosphate dikinase activity.
L'invention concerne: un nouveau polypeptide présentant une activité de pyruvate-phosphate-dikinase conférant une résistance au froid, un ADN cloné codant pour ce polypeptide, et un vecteur de recombinaison contenant cet ADN, constituant chacun un moyen permettant de conférer à des plantes une résistance au froid. Le polypeptide présenté peut être soit le polypeptide (1) ou le polypeptide (2), et présente une séquence d'amino acides telle qu'au moins un résidu d'amino acide présent dans la région ayant une longueur d'un sixième de la longueur totale, en démarrant de la terminaison C, a été remplacé par un autre résidu d'acide aminé, et présente également une activité de pyruvate-phosphate-dikinase conférant une résistance au froid. Le polypeptide (1) présente une séquence d'amino acides correspondant aux numéros d'identification de séquence 1 à 4, selon la liste des séquences, et présente également une activité de pyruvate-phosphate-dikinase. Le polypeptide (2) présente une séquence d'amino acides correspondant dans une proportion d'au moins 50 % à la séquence d'amino acides du polypeptide (1), et présente également une activité de pyruvate-phosphate-dikinase.
