This manufacturing process has two stages. The first consists of sending an untreated strip of wood ¼" or less through a series of rollers attached in pairs. Cold compression is exerted in the direction of the fibres, and reduces the thickness of the strip by about 50%. The compressed strip is then glued onto a side of a piece of wood, resulting in the desired composite. The glued strip makes the corresponding surface of the composite extra shock-resistant. The composites produced in this way can be used in the construction of stairs or floors.

Ce procédé de fabrication comprend deux étapes. La première consiste à passer une lamelle de bois non-traitée d'épaisseur inférieure ou égale à 1/4" à travers une série de rouleaux entravés par paire. La compression se fait à froid dans le sens des fibres. Cette compression permet de réduire l'épaisseur de la lamelle d'environ 50%. La lamelle compressée est par la suite collée sur un côté d'une pièce de bois en vue d'obtenir le composite désiré. La lamelle ainsi collée rend la surface correspondante du composite extra-résistante au choc. Les composites ainsi obtenus peuvent être utilisés notamment dans la construction des marches d'escaliers ou des planchers.
