A frame for depositing a hardenable, formable material in a predetermined shape continuously onto a surface and a method of using such a frame. The frame deposited on a surface includes: a pair of side frames, a plurality of cross supports, at least one longitudinal divider which extends substantially parallel to the side frames and a plurality of floats attached to and extend transversely of the side frames. The floats progressively level and force the mixed material downwardly and outwardly against the side frames and divider to form strips of predetermined shape. The method of using the frame to provide multiple continuous strips of material includes the steps of attaching the frame to a vehicle, moving the vehicle forward to pull the frame and depositing the material in the frame, such that as the frame is pulled forward, the mixed material is forced downwardly and outwardly to the side frames and divider. Additionally, the invention includes a crosscutting frame which includes a number of parallel blades depending downwardly from a frame. The crosscutting frame is attached to the articulated arm of a tractor and is used to divide the continuous strips of material into discreet blocks. Alternatively, the crosscutting frame can be used to form strips of material if a modified version of the frame is used in which the internal dividers are not present.
