A supported catalyst composition comprising the reaction product of i) a magnesium halide, ii) a solvent, iii) an electron donor compound, iv) and a transition metal compound; an inert support; and ,a cocatalyst composition wherein the supported catalyst is substantially free of other alcohols and wherein the molar ratio of the first alcohol to magnesium is less than or equal to 1.9.
