2119009 9402082 PCTABS00030 A reusable device (10) for delivering a release of heat to an area such as a body portion. The device (10) comprises a flexible, fluid-tight container (12) holding a liquid (22) which releases heat upon crystallization such as sodium acetate tetrahydrate. A trigger (14) located within the container (12) initiates the crystallization of the liquid (22) to release the latent heat. The trigger (14) comprises a plurality of rigid objects (18) held within a receptacle (16) located within the container (12). The receptacle (16) is in fluid communication with the container (12) so that the plurality of rigid objects (18) are in contact with the liquid (22). The trigger initiates the crystallization of the liquid (22) when pressure is applied to the plurality of rigid objects (18) such as by squeezing the trigger (14) between one's fingers.
