ABSTRACT In the case of a mixing kneader for performing mechanical, chemical, and/or thermal processes with at least two axis- parallel rotating shafts, at least the shaft designated as the main shaft has disk surfaces with kneading bars arranged on their circumference, which are brushed by cleaning resp. kneading and transporting elements, which are mounted on the other shaft designated as the cleaning shaft. The kneading bars of two adjacent disk surfaces on the main shaft maintain a separation from one another, through which the cleaning-resp. kneading and transporting element on the cleaning shaft passes. In this case the shafts and/or the housing are made so that they oscillate back and forth in the longitudinal axis of the shaft.
