L'invention concerne de nouveaux composés dérivés de N-aryl 2-hydroxy alkylamides de formule générale (I) (see fig, I) dans laquelle: R1 représente un atome d'hydrogène, un atome d'halogène, un groupement cyano (-CN), un radical alkyle en C1-C4 un radical perfluoroalkyle ou un radical -OR6, R6 représentant un atome d'hydrogène ou un radical alkyle en C1-C4; R2 représente un groupement nitro (-NO2), un groupement cyano (-CN), un atome d'halogène, un radical -S02R7, un radical -COR7 ou un radical -COOR7, R7 représentant un atome d'hydrogène, un radical alkyle en C1-C4 ou un radical phényle, éventuellement substitué par au moins un atome d'halogène; et R3 représente un atome d'hydrogène, un atome d'halogène, un groupement cyano (-CN), un radical alkyle en C1-C4, éventuellement substitué par au moins un atome d'halogène ou un radical -OR6, R6 représentant un atome d'hydrogène ou un radical alkyle en C1-C4, leur procédé de synthèse, les compositions les contenant ainsi que l'utilisation à titre de principe actif, dans un milieu physiologiquement acceptable, dans une composition cosmétique ou pour la préparation d'une composition pharmaceutique, d'une quantité efficace d'au moins un de ces composés, ce composé ou ces compositions étant destinés à induire et/ou stimuler la croissance des cheveux et/ou freiner leur chute et/ou à traiter l'hyperséborrhée et/ou l'acné.
