A composition comprising Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) with a reduced emission of acrolein is obtained by contacting Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) resin with an effective amount of a melt stable, organic stabilizing compound. Such PTT resin has an acrolein formation rate at 280 ~C of less than 15 ppm/minute. Preferably the residual acrolein content of the PTT resin is less than 10 ppm. The additive organic stabilizing compounds are free from nitrogen atoms. Preferred additive compounds include polyfunctional alkohols, alcoholates, aromatic carboxylic acid anhydrides, carboxylic acids and salts of carboxylic acids. The additive compounds are added to the polymer in molten state and/or to the resin, which is then processed to fibers, filaments, non- wovens, films and/or mouldings.

L'invention concerne une composition comprenant du polytriméthylène téréphthalate (PTT) à émission réduite d'acroléine et étant obtenue par la mise en contact de la résine de polytriméthylène téréphthalate (PTT) et d'une quantité efficace d'un composé de stabilisation à fonte stable, organique. Ladite résine de PTT présente un taux de formation d'acroléine à 280 ·C inférieur à 15ppm/minute. De préférence, le contenu d'acroléine résiduel de la résine de PTT est inférieur à 10ppm. Lesdits composés de stabilisation organiques additifs ne présentent pas d'atome d'azote. Les composés additifs comprennent des alcools polyfonctionnels, des alcoholates, des anhydrides d'acide carboxylique aromatique, des acides carboxyliques et des sels d'acides carboxyliques. Lesdits composés additifs sont ajoutés au polymère, à l'état fondu, et/ou à la résine qui est alors transformée en fibres, filaments, non tissés, films et/ou moulages.
