A tool spindle is used to machine or produce elliptical surfaces, in particular elliptical boxes. A sleeve is mounted rotatably in a housing, and a shaft which carries the tool is mounted rotatably in the interior of the sleeve, eccentrically with respect to the sleeve axis. The shaft and the sleeve are driven at the same speed, but in opposite directions.
