ABSTRACT An animal restraining apparatus comprising a longitudinal post, an extension bar attached at one end thereof to, and extending transversely from, one end of the post and a neck restraining element having a generally parabolic shape attached at the base thereof to the other end of the extension bar whereby the restraining element is angled upwardly from the horizontal. For dog grooming usage the apparatus is configured for attachment to a dog grooming table. The extension bar is preferably also angled upwardly from the horizontal and preferably one side of the neck restraining element includes a closed slot and the other side thereof an open slot for the attachment of a strap used to secure the animal in a restrained position.
