Composition cosmétique ou dermatologique sous forme d'une dispersion, aqueuse et stable, de particules de gel cubique à base de 3,7,11,15-tétraméthyl 1,2,3-hexadecanetriol ou phytantriol et son utilisation pour hydrater la peau. Cette composition comprend essentiellement: (a) de 0,1 à 15 % en poids de 3,7,11,15-tétraméthyl 1,2,3-hexadecanetriol par rapport au poids total de la composition, et (b) de 0,1 à 3 % en poids d'un agent dispersant et stabilisant par rapport au poids total de la composition, ledit agent étant choisi parmi les agents tensioactifs hydrosolubles à température ambiante, contenant une chaîne grasse, saturée ou insaturée, ayant de 8 à 22 atomes de carbone. Cette composition présente une excellente stabilité, un toucher sensoriel très satisfaisant ainsi qu'un effet hydratant et permet en outre d'y inclure desprincipes actifs hydrophiles et/ou lipophiles sans problème de compatibilité.
