A wireless scatternet is provided that has at least two networks, each including a controller and one or more devices. The controller of each network has a usable physical area tht indicates the farthest distance to which the controller can successfully communicate. The controllers will pass network information to each other in various ways depending upon the extent of overlap between the networks. If two networks have visible overlap, the controllers will pass the network information directly. If they have hidden overlap, one controller will use a device in the other controller's network to pass the network information. If they have indirect overlap, one device from each network will together in a child network, and the controllers will pass the network information via the devices in this child network. The network information may be passed through beacons or a separate broadcast message.
L'invention concerne un Scatternet sans fil comprenant au moins deux réseaux, chaque réseau comportant une unité de commande et au moins un dispositif. L'unité de commande de chaque réseau présente une zone physique utilisable indiquant la distance la plus longue sur laquelle l'unité de commande peut communiquer de manière efficace. Les unités de commande se transmettent entre elles des informations de réseau, de diverses manières, en fonction de l'étendue du chevauchement entre les réseaux. Si deux réseaux présentent un chevauchement visible, les unités de commande transmettent directement les informations de réseau. S'ils présentent un chevauchement caché, une des unités de commande utilise un dispositif du réseau de l'autre unité de commande pour transmettre ces informations de réseau. S'ils présentent un chevauchement indirect, des dispositifs issus de chaque réseau forment un réseau enfant, et les unités de commande transmettent les informations de réseau par l'intermédiaire des dispositifs de ce réseau enfant. Les informations de réseau ou un message de radiodiffusion séparé peuvent être transmis par l'intermédiaire de balises.
