A device (1) for equalizing the weight of a suspended load, for example a tool to be operated by hand, includes a cable drum (2) and at least two parallel or substantially parallel suspension cables (3), which can be evenly wound up and unwound on a corresponding number of grooves (9) of matching diameter arranged parallel alongside one another on the cable drum (2). Each of the suspension cables (3) has for this purpose a resistance to tear corresponding to or exceeding the nominal load to be accommodated, so that considerably larger safety reserves arepresent, and even if one cable tears, the remaining cable can continue to carry the load. By distributing the load on two cables, the danger of a cable tear is, however, at the same time diminished.

Dispositif (1) servant à égaliser le poids d'une charge suspendue, laquelle peut être par exemple un outil manuel. Ce dispositif est constitué d'un tambour de câble (2) et d'au moins deux câbles de suspension (3) parallèles ou à peu près parallèles que l'on peut enrouler sur une série de cannelures (9) de diamètre approprié, disposées parallèlement l'une à l'autre sur le tambour (2). Chacun des câbles de suspension (3) offre une résistance au bris égale ou supérieure au poids de la charge nominale. Comme on dispose ainsi d'une marge de sécurité nettement plus importante que nécessaire, s'il survient une rupture de câble, l'autre câble est en mesure de continuer à soutenir la charge. Mais la distribution de la charge sur deux câbles limite par d'ailleurs le risque d'un bris de câble.
