The present invention relates to a method for coding a moving picture in a moving picture coding system using multiple reference picture. According to the method for coding an interlaced moving picture into a frame picture having frame/field macroblock, a reference picture index of the frame macroblock is determined at a macroblock level by determining the reference picture index of frame unit at a picture (or slice) level and respectively allocating a lower index and a higher index to a top reference field and a bottom reference field while sequentially visiting the reference frames according to an order of reference picture index of frame unit, the top and bottom field indexes being giving by an equation: top reference field index = 2 x picture index of reference frame; and bottom reference field index = 2 x picture index of reference frame + 1.

L'invention concerne un procédé de codage d'une image mobile dans un système de codage d'images mobiles au moyen d'images de référence multiples. Selon le procédé de codage d'une image mobile entrelacée en une image de trame possédant un macro-bloc trame/champ, un index d'image de référence du macro-bloc de trame est déterminé au niveau du macro-bloc par détermination de l'index d'image de référence d'une unité de trame au niveau d'image (ou tranche) et par attribution respectivement d'un index inférieur et d'un index supérieur à un champ de référence supérieur et un champ de référence inférieur, pendant la visite séquentielle de trames de référence selon l'ordre d'index d'image de référence de l'unité de trame, les index de champ inférieur et supérieur étant donnés par une équation : l'index de champ de référence supérieur =2x l'index d'image de la trame de référence ; et l'index de champ de référence inférieur = 2 x l'index d'image de la trame de référence + 1.¿?
