An engine comprising a cylinder defining a cylinder head portion and housing a piston movable inside the cylinder and defining a piston head portion sealingly engaging the cylinder. A regulator device is movable between the piston head portion and the cylinder head portion and sealingly engages the cylinder. A combustion chamber is located between the regulator device and the cylinder head portion. A fluid outlet port is located in the combustion chamber and is equipped with a selectively controlled fluid outlet valve. A fluid inlet port is provided with the with said regulator device being located between the inlet and outlet ports at all times. A coil spring continuously biases the regulator device away from the piston head portion.
