A transgenic soybean plant cell having a nucleic acid molecule comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a polynucleotide that is at least 95% identical to about 275 to about 350 contiguous nucleotides of SEQ ID NO: 1, or complete complements thereof, wherein a transformed soybean plant having the soybean plant cell produces seed with more oleic acid than a soybean plant having a similar genetic background but lacking the nucleic acid molecule.
