The present invention relates to a method for making an ablation transducer having a plurality of helical elements that can be operated out of phase to orient the acoustical energy beam forward or backward in the longitudinal direction. The transducers includes a cylindrical inner electrode, a cylindrical piezoelectric material disposed over the inner electrode, and a cylindrical outer electrode disposed over the cylindrical piezoelectric material. Spiral grooves are cut through at least the outer electrode separating the transducer into a plurality of functionally discrete helical transducer segments. The helical transducer segments can be operated independent from one another. An array of intertwined helical transducers arranged linearly along a helical axis are also contemplated.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de fabriquer un transducteur d'ablation comprenant une pluralité d'éléments en hélice qui peuvent être actionnés de façon déphasée afin d'orienter le faisceau d'énergie acoustique vers l'avant ou vers l'arrière dans la direction longitudinale. Le transducteur comprend une électrode intérieure cylindrique, un matériau piézo-électrique cylindrique disposé sur l'électrode intérieure et une électrode extérieure cylindrique disposée sur le matériau piezoélectrique cylindrique. Des rainures hélicoïdales sont pratiquées sur au moins l'électrode extérieure séparant le transducteur en une pluralité de segments de transducteur hélicoïdaux fonctionnellement discrets. Les segments de transducteurs hélicoïdaux peuvent être activés indépendamment les uns des autres. L'invention concerne également un réseau de transducteurs hélicoïdaux entrelacés disposés selon une configuration linéaire le long d'un axe hélicoïdal.
