The present invention generally relates to a device and method for the management of a collection of battery cells. In one embodiment, the present invention permits the management of a collection of battery cells composed of an overall battery pack manager unit, individual cell manager units, and wireless commu-nication links between these units. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a device and method for the manage-ment of a collection of battery cells in the field of rechargeable batteries, such as batteries based on lithium-based chemistries, nickel-based chemistries, and lead-acid chemistries. In still anoth-er embodiment, the present invention is directed to a method that permits the maximization of battery pack capacity during a charge-discharge cycle and/or permits the maximization of the to-tal number of charge-discharge cycles.
La présente invention porte de façon générale sur un dispositif et un procédé de gestion d'une collection de cellules de batterie. Dans un mode de réalisation, la présente invention permet la gestion d'une collection de cellules de batterie composées d'une unité gestionnaire de bloc batterie globale, d'unités gestionnaires de cellule individuelle, et de liaisons de communication sans fil entre ces unités. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, la présente invention porte sur un dispositif et un procédé de gestion d'une collection de cellules de batterie dans le domaine des batteries rechargeables, telles que des batteries basées sur des compositions chimiques à base de lithium, des compositions chimiques à base de nickel et des compositions chimiques plomb-acide. Dans encore un autre mode de réalisation, la présente invention porte sur un procédé qui permet de maximiser une capacité de bloc batterie durant un cycle de charge-décharge et/ou permet de maximiser le nombre total de cycles de charge-décharge.
