This invention is an adaptor (80) for coupling rapid exchange-type catheters (10) to a catheter re-sterilizing system. Specifically, the adaptor (80) fluidly couples the guide wire lumen of a rapid exchange-type catheter (10) to a source of sterilant so that the sterilant may be positively directed to and through the guide wire lumen, thereby allowing the catheter to be properly "reprocessed" or sterilized for reuse.

Plus particulièrement, l'adaptateur (80) met en communication fluidique la lumière du fil de guidage d'un cathéter du type à échange rapide (10) et une source d'agent stérilisateur afin que ce dernier puisse être acheminé de façon directe jusqu'à ladite lumière de fil de guidage et à travers cette dernière, ce qui permet de traiter ou de stériliser à nouveau le cathéter de manière adéquate à des fins de réutilisation.
