The invention relates to novel nucleic acids encoding a fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) and proteins encoded thereby, mutations in which are associated with autosomal dominant rickets (ADHR). The invention further relates to methods of diagnosing and treating hypophosphatemic and hyperphosphatemic disorders comprising inhibiting or stimulating, respectively, the biological activity of FGF23 in a patient. The invention also relates to methods of treating osteoporosis, dermatomyositis, and coronary artery disease comprising stimulating the biological activity of FGF23 in a patient.

La présente invention concerne de nouveaux acides nucléiques codant un facteur de croissance fibroblastique 23 (FGF23) et des protéines ainsi codées, représentant des mutations associées au rachitisme autosomique dominant (ADHR). Par ailleurs, cette invention concerne des méthodes diagnostiques et thérapeutiques des troubles hypophosphatémiques et hyperphosphatémiques, consistant à inhiber ou à stimuler, respectivement, l'activité biologique du facteur FGF23 chez un patient. L'invention concerne également des méthodes de traitement de l'ostéoporose, de la dermatomyosite, et des maladies des artères coronaires, consistant à stimuler l'activité biologique du facteur FGF23 chez un patient.
