A process for the production of cyclohexane by the hydrogenation of benzene is provided wherein the reactor is operated at a pressure wherein the reaction mixture is boiling under low hydrogen partial pressure in the range of about 0.1 PSIA to less than 200 PSIA at 0 to 350 PSIA overhead pressure. The catalyst is provided as a catalytic distillation structure (12) such that the reaction is concurrently occurring with a distillation. The benzene is fed at a point above the bed (1) and the hydrogen is fed below the bed (2). All of the overheads may be returned as reflux to provide cooling within the catalyst bed.

L'invention porte sur un procédé de production de cyclohexane par hydrogénation de benzène, dans lequel le réacteur fonctionne à une pression où le mélange réactif bout sous la pression partielle basse de l'hydrogène comprise entre environ 0,1 PSIA et moins de 200 PSIA, pour une pression de tête de réacteur comprise entre 0 et 350 PSIA. Le catalyseur, du type à structure (12) catalytique de distillation, est tel que la réaction se fait concurremment avec la distillation. Le benzène est introduit au-dessus du lit, et l'hydrogène, au-dessous (2) du lit. Tout les distillats de tête, peuvent être retournés comme rétroflux pour assurer le refroidissement du lit catalytique
