ABSTRACT Methods and apparatus for analyzing gases dissolved in transformer insulating oil, for example, involves the use of separate gas stripping zones communicating with the flame ionization detector side and the thermal conductivity detector side of a chromatograph, each stripping zone being heated to a relatively high temperature on the order of 220°C. Oil samples are injected into a tripping zone and dissolved gases removed therefrom by the use of inert carrier gases. A portion of a carrier gas supply in communication with the thermal conductivity detector side of the chromatograph is pressure controlled to establish and maintain a stable baseline in the thermal conductivity detector side. 36,774-F
