An external fixator element, e.g. a rod, a pin or a clamping means comprises at least one contacting surface (4). At least one of the contacting surface (4) of the element responsible to establish connection between said element and a different exter-nal fixator element is provided with a rough ablated structure (4, 5, 6). The clamping can be improved if one of the elements comprise fibres (2) having parts (5) protruding over the surface (4).
