A cuirass type ventilator comprises a shell member having a peripheral edge and a sealing device secured to the peripheral edge, the sealing device comprising a sealing member depending from the peripheral edge of the shell, the sealing member having a sealing region for sealing against a patient's body, a securing region whereat the sealing member is secured to the shell and a resilient pleated region intermediate the sealing region and securing region whereby, in use, the resilience of the pleated region urges the sealing region into sealing engagement with a patient's body.
Le ventilateur de type cuirasse de la présente invention comporte une coque ayant une bordure périphérique et un dispositif d'étanchéité fixé à ladite bordure périphérique. Ledit dispositif d'étanchéité comprend un élément d'étanchéité dépendant de la bordure périphérique de la coque, ledit élément d'étanchéité possédant une région conçue pour assurer l'étanchéité vis à vis du corps d'un patient, une région de fixation à laquelle l'élément d'étanchéité est fixé et une région élastique plissée, disposée en position intermédiaire entre la région d'étanchéité et la région de fixation, lesdites régions étant telles que, en cours d'utilisation, l'élasticité de la région plissée force la région d'étanchéité à entrer en contact d'étanchéité avec le corps du patient.
