The sheet delivery for a printing press or similar comprises an apparatus for changing the sheet pile while the press is in operation, in which suction-type grippers (10) are insertable into the feeder, opposite to the conveying direction of the sheets (3), between pile stops (4) for the sheet front edge, said suction- type grippers (10), when in the inserted end position, suction-gripping the front edge of a sheet deposited onto the suction-type gripper (10) and holding said sheet at a distance above the sheet pile in an auxiliary-pile position. In order to tauten the sheet after the front edge of the sheet has been suction- gripped, said suction-type grippers (10) are, when in the inserted position, withdrawable by a predetermined dimension (a) towards the pile stops (4). In an appropriate design, suction-type grippers (22) may also act at the sheet rear edge and may, in order to tauten the sheet, be disposed in such a manner as to be withdrawable likewise by a predetermined dimension (a) when in the inserted position.
