A process for producing optically active cycloalkyl[b]benzofurans characterized by starting with easily available optically active materials; effecting a reaction with the use of a transition metal, Mitsunobu reaction, or both of these reactions combinedly; and then effecting a cyclization reaction by using a metal or an organometallic reagent. The above process is applicable to both experimental production and industrial production without resort to any troublesome optical resolution procedures or enzyme reactions which consume much solvent and long reaction time and is hardly reproducible.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de cycloalkyl[b]benzofuranes optiquement actifs, le procédé consistant à prendre d'abord des matières optiquement actives facilement disponibles; à effectuer une réaction comprenant l'utilisation d'un métal de transition, une réaction de Mitsunobu ou une combinaison de ces deux réactions; puis à effectuer une réaction de cyclisation par utilisation d'un métal ou d'un agent organométallique. On peut appliquer le procédé décrit ci-dessus dans une production expérimentale et dans une production industrielle sans avoir recours à des procédés de résolution optique ou des réactions enzymatiques sources de complications, qui nécessitent beaucoup de solvants et de temps de réaction et peuvent à peine être reproduits.
