A method and apparatus (14) is provided for video conferencing. The method and apparatus (14) continuously receive frames (10-13) from a plurality of video channels and alternately continuously transmit to each of a plurality of participants in a video conference individual frames containing information (14A-14D) concerning each of the video channels. The method and apparatus only transmits at any given instant new picture data for one of the participants in the video conference.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil (14) destinés aux conférences vidéo. Le procédé et l'appareil (14) reçoivent en continu des trames (10-13) provenant de plusieurs canaux vidéo et transmettent alternativement, de façon continue, à chaque participant d'une conférence vidéo, des trames individuelles contenant une information (14A-14D) concernant chaque canal vidéo. Le procédé et l'appareil transmettent, à un instant donné, des données nouvelles d'image seulement à l'un des participants de la conférence vidéo.
