A scaffold pipe coupling to adjacently clamp two scaffold pipes comprising: a forged steel central portion adapted to be positioned between the adjacent pipes having opposite sides each having a pipe seat contoured to receive one of the two scaffold pipes, said seats having opposite end portions, one end portion having a hinge projection and the other having a bent leg having an attached end portion and an unattached bent end portion; a forged steel swinging closure arm having an interior side contoured to receive the scaffold pipe and having one end portion hinged to the hinge projection and the other opposite end having a bent protrusion configured to protrude parallel to, and spaced apart from the unattached bent end portion when and only when the swinging closure arm is in a closed position; and, a forged steel wedge adapted to slide between the bent protrusion extending from the other end portion of the swinging arm and the unattached bent end portion of the bent leg extending from the other end portion of the pipe seat. Then the scaffold pipe coupling can be clamped on, and retain the scaffold pipes therein when the wedge is forced between the bent protrusion extending from the swinging closure arm, and the bent leg extending from the pipe seat on the central portion.
