ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Piperidine derivatives of formula (I): Image (I) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 may be same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; X represents an aralkyl or aryl group having from 6 to 30 carbon atoms or an alkyl group having from 4 to 30 carbon atoms, which may optionally have substituent(s), and a part of the organic group may be substituted by hetero atom(s) or hetero atom-containing organic group(s), and the alkyl moiety of the organic group may optionally contain unsaturated bond(s); Y represents a hetero atom or an optionally substituted alkylene chain, and the alkylene chain may optionally contain hetero atom(s) or unsaturated bond(s); and A represents a condensed hetero cyclic ring which may optionally have substituent(s); provided that the aromatic ring constituting X or A is an organic group selected from benzene, naphthalene, anthracene, pyrrole, furan, thiophene, indole, benzofuran, benzothiophene, pyridine, quinoline, isoquinoline, quinolidine, acridine, phenanthridine, pyrazole, imidazole, isoxazole, oxazole, thiazole, isothiazole, pyridazine, pyrazine, purine, p,uteridine, triazine and benzotriazole. Hypotensives containing these derivatives and use thereof for the treatment of hypertension in human beings and animals. The preparation of these derivatives is also described.
