A switching device for a communication network. The switching device (1) is connected to several adjacent switching devices (2,3) via several connection paths (9-15). The switching device (1) is authorized to allocate a transmission channel and to occupy the corresponding bandwidth for some of the connection paths. The corresponding adjacent switching device (2,3) is authorized to allocate a transmission channel for the other connection paths. The switching device (1) comprises storage means (16) containing information on the resources that are occupied and allocated by the adjacent switching devices (2,3). If the switching device is unable to select a suitable communication path (9-11) for which it is authorized to allocate a transmission channel, the switching device (1) uses information filed in the storage means (16) to determine an adjacent switching device (2,3) which is likely to be able to allocate sufficient resources required for the connection in question.

L'invention concerne un commutateur destiné à un réseau de communication. Le commutateur (1) est relié à plusieurs commutateurs voisins (2, 3) par plusieurs voies de liaison (9 -15). Pour certaines voies de liaison (9-11), le commutateur (1) est autorisé, en présence d'une demande de liaison, à affecter un canal de transmission et à occuper la largeur de bande correspondante. Pour les autres voies de liaison (12-15), c'est le commutateur voisin (2, 3) correspondant qui est autorisé à affecter un canal de transmission. Le commutateur (1) comprend un moyen mémoire (16) qui contient des informations sur les ressources occupées et affectées par les commutateurs voisins (2, 3). Si le commutateur (1) ne peut sélectionner aucune voie de liaison (9-11) appropriée pour laquelle il est autorisé à affecter un canal de transmission, le commutateur (1) détermine, à l'appui des informations enregistrées dans les moyens mémoire (16), un commutateur voisin (2, 3) qui peut affecter, selon toute probabilité, suffisamment de ressources pour la demande de liaison en cours.
