Artificial lens Abstract: In an artificial lens for implantation in the capsular sac of the natural crystalline lens that has been removed, this artificial lens comprising a lens body (1) and an on the whole disc-shaped holding device (2) which is manufactured in one piece with the lens body and which lies with its outer edge at the peri- meter of the capsular sac and bridges the distance between the perimeter of the capsular sac and the smaller perimeter of the lens body (1), the bending stiffness of the disc-shaped holding device (2) is stepped (9) between the outer edge and the lens body (1) in such a way that it is increased at least once from the outer edge to the lens body (1). A "desired bending point" results at the step which takes up at least a substantial portion of the deformation when pressure is applied to the holding device from the outside. To a large extent, this thus prevents the lens from tilting out of its plane. A ring disc-shaped holding device (2) has, for example, a ring-shaped thickened area (4) near its middle and in addition a ring-shaped thickened area (3) at the outer edge. Figure 2
