An improved retaining means for a loose leaf stationery binder comprises at least one pair of engageable retaining members adapted to be movable between an open and a closed position, wherein each pair comprises a first retaining member and a second retaining member; each first and second retaining member has a mounting end, a body portion and a free end; and in each pair the free end of the first retaining member comprises a substantially concave internal socket portion adapted to receive in a sliding fit a corresponding protrusion portion comprising the generally tapered free end of the second retaining member, thereby to secure the first and second retaining members aligned in the closed position.
