Novel bleaching compositions comprising a peroxygen compound and an oxygen transfer agent of the structure: R1R2C=N-SO2-N=CR3R4. Substrates such as fabrics may be bleached in an aqueous solution containing the oxygen transfer compound and a peroxygen compound.
