A photoelectric sensor array apparatus (10) and method, relates to at least two photoelectric rail elements (12, 14) each having alternating light emitting diode transmitters (21) and photo detecting receivers (25). The array (10) produces a plurality of light devices with corresponding sensors, whereby the light beams are blocked in the region where an opaque object (36) is located. Each rail (12, 14) contains both transmitters (21) and receivers (25) so that control circuits (34) for the transmitters (21) and receivers (25) are substantially identical and mounted on opposite sides of the array apparatus (10), to provide a more compact unit of higher resolution and to reduce the design and manufacturing costs. Such construction and method enable the sensing array apparatus (10) to function in direct sunlight or other such photoelectric saturation conditions, which would otherwise blind conventional light sensitive sensor arrays.
L'invention concerne un dispositif (10) à groupement de détecteurs photoélectriques et un procédé, le dispositif comportant au moins deux éléments (12, 14) de rail photoélectriques pourvus chacun en alternance d'émetteurs (21) à diodes électroluminescentes et de récepteurs (25) de photodétection. Le groupement (10) produit une pluralité de dispositifs lumineux comportant des détecteurs correspondants, les faisceaux lumineux se bloquant dans la zone où se situe un objet (36) opaque.
