The immunoglobulin heavy chain binding protein BiP (78KD), or a peptide derived therefrom provides a reagent for indicating the presence of rheumatoid arthritis. The protein used is recombinant BiP(78KD) having a defined sequence. A prognostic or diagnostic test for RA may be an ELISA assay or a Western Blot. The invention also includes a method of testing for RA, using a protein BiP(78KD) or a cDNA sequence coding therefor to determine the presence of antibodies to said protein. The invention also includes a method of therapeutic treatment of RA comprising administering the protein BiP(78KD) or a DNA coding therefor e.g. by the intravenous, nasal, oral, or cutaneous route.
La protéine de liaison à chaîne lourde gammaglobuline BiP (78KD), ou un peptide dérivé de cette dernière permet d'obtenir un réactif servant à indiquer la présence de la polyarthrite rhumatoïde. La protéine utilisée est la BiP (78KD) recombinée, à séquence définie. On peut utiliser une méthode de détection ELISA ou Western Blot comme test de pronostic ou de diagnostic de la polyarthrite rhumatoïde (PR). L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de tester la PR, au moyen d'une protéine BiP (78KD) ou d'une séquence d'ADN complémentaire codant cette dernière, afin de déterminer la présence d'anticorps, ainsi qu'un procédé de traitement thérapeutique de la PR, qui consiste à administrer la protéine BiP (78KD) ou un ADN codant cette dernière, par exemple par voie intraveineuse, nasale, orale ou cutanée.
