A medical bandaging product (10) for being dispensed in predetermined lengths suitable for a given medical use, and includes an elongate sleeve (13) formed of moisture-impervious material and sealable to prevent entry of moisture and an elongate medical material (14) positioned in the sleeve and sealed therein against entry of moisture until use. The medical material includes a substrate (16) formed of a single thickness layer formed of first yarns (18). The second yarns (19) are integrated into the single thickness layer of the first yarns. The second yarns are high-strength, high modulus fibers for increasing the strength and dimensionally stabilizing the substrate. A reactive system is impregnated into or coated onto the substrate, the system remaining stable when maintained in substantially moisture-free conditions and hardening upon exposure to sufficient moisture of form a rigid, self supporting structure. A soft, flexible protective wrapping (17) encloses the substrate along its length to provide a cushioning barrier between the substrate and the skin of a patient when the material is in use. A clip (15) or other closure devices is provided for resealing the sleeve against entry of moisture after a predetermined length of the bandaging product has been dispensed for use to prevent hardening of the substrate remaining in the sleeve.
L'invention concerne un produit de bandage médical destiné à être distribué selon des longueurs prédéterminées appropriées pour un usage médical donné. Ledit produit comprend une enveloppe allongée constituée de matériau imperméable à l'humidité et pouvant être fermée hermétiquement afin d'empêcher l'entrée d'humidité, ainsi qu'un matériau médical allongé positionné dans l'enveloppe et fermé hermétiquement à l'intérieur de cette dernière afin d'empêcher l'entrée d'humidité jusqu'à l'utilisation. Le matériau médical comprend un substrat constitué d'une couche d'une seule épaisseur formée de premières fibres. Les secondes fibres sont intégrées dans la couche d'une seule épaisseur formée des premières fibres. Les secondes fibres sont des fibres à haute résistance, haut module permettant l'augmentation de la résistance et la stabilisation dimensionnelle du substrat. Un système réactif dont le substrat est imprégné ou revêtu, le système restant stable lorsqu'il est maintenu dans des conditions sensiblement exemptes d'humidité et durcissant lors de l'exposition à une humidité suffisante afin de former une structure autoporteuse, rigide. Un enveloppement de protection souple, mou recouvre le substrat sur toute sa longueur afin d'assurer une barrière de coussinage entre le substrat et la peau d'un patient lorsque le matériau est utilisé. Une agrafe ou d'autres dispositifs de fermeture permettent de refermer hermétiquement l'enveloppe afin d'empêcher l'entrée d'humidité après qu'une longueur prédéterminée du produit de bandage ait été distribuée pour être utilisée afin d'empêcher le durcissement du substrat restant dans l'enveloppe.
