A method for treating a steel reinforced material of a cured tire and a tire improved by the method are provided. The method includes applying a tensile force to the steel reinforced material of a magnitude equal to that of a tensile force applied thereon when the tire is subjected to an inflation pressure greater than one hundred and ten percent (110%) of the nominal inflation pressure yet of a magnitude less than the tensile strength of the steel reinforced material. Thereafter, the method provides that the application of the tensile force to the steel reinforced material is maintained for a predetermined period, whereby a characteristic of the growth of cracks in the steel reinforced material is altered.
Description d'une méthode de traitement d'un matériau renforcé d'acier utilisé dans un pneu vulcanisé et d'un pneu amélioré fabriqué grâce à cette méthode. Cette dernière consiste à appliquer une force de traction au matériau renforcé d'acier d'une importance égale à celle de la force appliquée sur ce matériau lorsque le pneu est gonflé à une pression supérieure à cent dix pour cent (110 %) de la pression de gonflage normale, mais d'une importance inférieure à la résistance à la traction du matériau renforcé d'acier. Par la suite, la méthode prévoit que l'application de la force de traction au matériau renforcé d'acier se poursuive pour une période prédéterminée, il est ainsi possible de modifier la propagation des criques dans le matériau renforcé d'acier.
