- 14 - Abstract of the Disclosure. For a machine for the division of a piece of squared timber into thin boards without producing chips and without loss and in the case of which the intended board thickness is not able to be exactly set owing to variations in the property parameters of the wood, a method is described in which a piece of squared timber may be completely divided up into a number of boards of essentially equal thickness without an excessively thin or excessively thick board being left over. For this purpose the respective thickness of the residual squared timber is measured and the result is fed back to the setting of the machine.
